The Georgia Archives has several
YouTube videos on African American historical
records. It would probably be worth your while to view these, especially if you
are new
to researching your African American heritage.

Data from the 1860 census

Slave cabins in Georgia, I suspect these were not the typical which were likely in much poorer condition. (Virtual Vault)
Bibb County, Georgia, was a significant center for slave transactions in the
Southeast,
particularly in the city of Macon. Researchers have identified nearly 1,000
slave
transactions within deed books spanning from 1823 to 1865, highlighting the
area's role
in the domestic slave trade. These records, now digitized and available online,
offer a
glimpse into the lives of enslaved people and the impact of slavery on Macon and
Bibb
County. I have been unable to locate the ability to search document by
document, but
have sent an email to the Superior Court Clerk who was instrumental in getting
this
digitized and indexing along with Mercer University.
