BOYNTON, DATHNEY, MORGAN, MORRIS posted by Jo McPhail on Monday, March 5, 2001

Looking for info on Morgan family who lived in Henry Co., GA mid 1800's. Anyone with info on Eldridge Morgan, James Morgan, Thomas J. Morgan b. 1843 in Henry Co., GA. Trying to verify Eldridge Morgan as a brother to James Morgan and other siblings. James Morgan m. Mary Dathney 4/6/1816 and Eldridge Morgan m. Sally Morris 7/1/1819 both marriages taking place in Richmond Co., GA. I am a descendant of James Morgan. Some of this Morgan family later moved to AL. There is an Andrew Jackson Morris b. 1/1/1831 in Henry Co., GA and don't know if there could be a connection of Sally Morris to Andrew Jackson Morris. Andrew Jackson Morris' Father-in-law was named Elijah Snow Boynton and the Elijah Snow name along with the Boynton name appears later in the Morgan family. Any help would be appreciated.

Othniel Weaver (my GGGGGF) was born about 1750 in Anson or Bladen, NC and his property on Hill's Creek eventually ended up in present day Chesterfield County, SC (previously Craven, Cheraw and St. David’s districts) before 1784. He removed to the Little River area of Wilkes County, GA by 1787 and was a member of Phillips Mill Baptist Church. He was recorded at various times in Washington, Baldwin and Wilkinson counties before settling in Morgan where he died in 1817. Othniel was a pioneer Baptist preacher in early Georgia history along with his step son-in-law, Jesse Mercer and many other Weaver relatives. Family tradition holds that his parents were Aaron and Hannah Weaver, who were killed by Bloody Bill Cunningham in the Massacre at Cloud's Creek in Edgefield County, SC in November 1781. He married first, Sarah HOLLEY the widow of Joel CHIVERS about 1783 in Chesterfield, SC, who had these CHIVERS children: Thomas 1768, Joel 1770, Larkin 1771, Sabrina 1772, Jane 1774 and Jamimah 1776. Together Othniel and Susannah had these WEAVER children: Jesse 1808, James 1809, Nancy 1810 and Isaac Suttles 1812 (my GGGGF). THOMASON posted by robert thomason gilchrist on Thursday, March 8, 2001

My mothers people are the Thomasons from Butts and Henry Co. My great-great-great-grandfather Littleton Thomason died in Henry County in 1839. My great-great-uncle Simeon Thomason died in 1863. Was there a newspaper in the area that might have carried a report of their deaths in those years. Maybe a Church bulletin, etc. If anyone has information on these two men, or Littleton's wife Nancy Thomason, I would appreciate it.

I am Seeking information on the following families all of which migrated from Henry Co., GA to Texas in 1850's: Big Headed John Camp s/o James Camp and ? Ragsdale; John's daughter, Nancy Camp Moseley who married Miles Moseley; William M. Capps (Capes); Lewis Sparkman and his wife Catherine Chlorinda Camp Sparkman who was also a daughter of John Camp; Elijah Sherwood Allen and family; as well as William Camp Allen and Whitmeal P. Allen. I especially want to find the connection between the Allen, Camp, and Moseley families and any information relating to William M. Capps is needed as I have no information relationg to his parents or any possible sibilings. These families migrated to Texas in 1858 and settled in Smith County, Texas. Family tradition says that there were over 100 wagons and 300 people in this train. They all purchased land in the same general location north-west of the city of Tyler, TX in the small community of Carroll. Many of these individuals and their descendants are buried in the Dover Cemetery in Garden Valley near Carroll. They helped establish the Dover Baptist Church and are listed as charter members on the church records. Any help is appreciated.
