Nicholls Edward Carter

Funeral services for Nicholls Edward Carter were held at the Carter family residence at 828 East Ward Street on Monday morning. The Rev. K. H. MacGregor of the Methodist Church officiated.

Mr. Carter suffered a heart attack at his place of business Saturday, and went home. His sudden death about ten o'clock came as a shock to his family and friends.

He had attained the age of 43 and had been in Douglas for 25 years, most of which time he had owned and operated his own barber shop. He was a US Army veteran of World War One.

His immediate survivors include his wife, Ethel Pauline nee Bullard, a graduate of Baxley High School (class of 1917), who conducted a beauty shop adjoining his barber shop; two children, Doris Jacqueline, a Douglas High School student, and Howard Newell, Douglas High School graduate (class of 1937); four brothers, James Henry Carter of Seville, FL, Leonard John Carter, Walter L. Carter and Daniel Jackson Carter of Palatka, FL; and a sister Mrs Mary Elizabeth Stokes of Coffee County.
