Mrs. Marie Johnson Engler, age 81, of E. 17th St., Alma, died early last Wednesday morning in the Jeff Davis County Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was a native of Bacon County and was the daughter of the late James Johnson and Ellen Sullivan Johnson.

Survivors include two sons, Raymond Hancock of Alma and Russell E. Hancock of Miami, Florida; one sister, Mrs. Ivos McKerly of Alma. Seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Evangelistic Temple with Rev. Jonah Mitchell and Rev. M. J. Wood officiating. Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Roy H. Carter, Jack Carter, Julian Carter, Wesley Carter, Larry Carter and Bentley Carter. Honorary pallbears were C. C. Andrews, Lamar Altman, Hoke Carter, Sid Taylor, Billy Robert Wheeler, Tessell Mullis, Ewing Waters, H. T. Lee, McCoy Tyre and Dr. James Beal.

Crosby Feneral Home was in charge of all the arrangements.
