Nathaniel BENNETT - b. abt 1758 d. 1780. Nathaniel Bennett died unmarried, a soldier in camp at Portsmouth during the Revolution. [2nd cousin, 5 times removed of Harley W. Bennett of Bacon Co.]


Henry TAYLOR - b. 1750 d. 1820. Henry served in the Georgia Line in the Revolutionary War as a Private. He was granted 287 1/2 acres of bounty-land in Washington Co. by the State of Georgia in 1785. Authority for War Service: Rev. Geo. G. Smith's "The Story of Georgia" in listing GA Revolutionary Soldiers, states Henry Taylor was a Private in the Georgia Line. Knight's "Georgia's Roster of the Revolution" shows he was granted the bounty-land referred to above. [3rd g-grandfather of Irabelle Nelson of Bacon Co.]


Charles SMITH, Sr. - b. abt 1763 d. 1833. A Revolutionary soldier, he served in Barnett's Company 'D', Hampton's Regiment, Sumpter's Brigade, in the South Carolina militia. [2nd g-grandfather of Daniel Dillard Douglas of Bacon Co.]


Lewis LANIER - b. 1753 d. 1792. Lewis was a Coronet in the Revolutionary War. He served from the Wilmington District of NC, and received voucher #1047, dated March 24, 1782, as validation of his service. [3rd g-grandfather of Cassie Mims of Bacon Co.]


Hustis STUDSTILL - b. 1760 d. 1805. An Ensign in the Screven Militia on Nov. 21, 1793, commissioned Apr. 28, 1795 as Captain of Screven County Militia. Listed as Lieutenant in the Bulloch County Militia Nov. 25, 1796. [3rd g-grandfather of Cassie Mims of Bacon Co.]


William SHEFFIELD - b. 1760 d. 1828. A Revolutionary soldier, of Duplin County, N.C. (see Knight's Roster of the Revolution, page 329, and "Roster of Soldiers from North Carolina", page 225) [2nd g-grandfather of Harley W. Bennett of Bacon Co.]


Richard BENNETT - b. 1759 d. 1830. A soldier in the Revolutionary War in North Carolina, serving under Capt. Thomas Clark, and was paid for his services Nov. 15, 1783. Certificate No. 89843 was issued to him (see p. 4, "Roster of Soldiers from North Carolina in the American Revolution"). [2nd g-grandfather of Annie Belle Bennett of Bacon Co.]


James (Jimmy) BRANCH - b. 1760-1770 d. abt 1838. A Revolutionary War soldier, Jimmy returned to 'Carolina' and persuaded several kinsmen to move their families to Lauren Co. At the time of his death, Dr. Joseph Branch, Minister of Davisboro, GA possessed the sword used by Jimmy Branch during the Revolutionary War. Green HILL, Jr. - b. 11/14/1741 d. abt 1825. A Major of the Bute Co. Regiment commanded by Col. Thomas Easton and Lieut-Col. William Alston. (Wheeler's History of North Carolina, pp. 64, 78, 81, 824, 825 and North Carolina Colonial Records) . A memorial tablet in the wall of the Court House at Franklin, TN bears the names of the Revolutionary Soldiers who were buried in that county, and includes the name of Major Green Hill.
