Deceased Soldier Under Act Approved October 9, 1891.
State of Georgia,
Banks County.
Personally before me comes Mrs.
Narcissa E. Ariail, of said county, after being duly sworn, on oath says that
she is the widow of J. M. Ariail who was duly enrolled as a Invalid Pensioner
from the county of Banks and was paid a Pension of Fifty Dollars from Banks
county for 1907 & 1908, and that the said J. M. Ariail died in Banks county
on the 6 day of May 1908, and at the time of his death a pension of Balance of
Year was due him from Banks county and unpaid for 1908. Applicant further swears that she married
the said J. M. Ariail on the [blank] day “the fall Nov.” 1865, in Banks county
and State of Georgia and resided with him from the date of marriage to his
death as his lawful wife, and is now his dependent widow, and she asks that the
Pension so due and unpaid be paid to her.

[An affidavit of George W. Wiley
of Banks County, dated June 30, 1908, located in the loose papers regarding Confederate
Pensions online at the Georgia Secretary of State’s website, states that G. W.
Wiley was aware of a marriage between John M. Ariail and N. E. Carson taking
place sometime in 1865 with William T. Martin, J. I. C., being the officiant. There is a listing for a marriage between
Robert H Carson and Narcissa Hendrix taking place on 16 Sept. 1858 in Franklin
County, Ga.]

desires to apply for a pension allowed under the Act of .....1910, and submits

1861. Co. A 2nd Georgia Volunteers.
5. When and where did the Commands
of your husband surrender or discharge from the army?
April 1865. Appomatox Va.
6. Was your husband personally
present at the time of the surrender or discharge of this Command?
Yes.

I think he was.

He never left.

as an heir to a portion of the estate of Francis Ballew in his Will probated in
Banks County on 23 Oct. 1877. She is
referred to as a sister to his wife, Nancy.
Also mentioned as Nancy Hendrix Ballew’s brothers and sisters are: Miles
Hendrix, Andrew Hendrix, Dorcas Hendrix, Harriet Yeargan, Artemissa Bailey, Mary
Reynolds, Amanda Carson, Octavia Baugh and Frances Bailey.

1834-14 Sept. 1929, is buried in Sunrise Cemetery in Maysville, Ga., next to
her husband, J. M. Ariail.
