Widow’s Affidavit
State of Georgia
Banks County.
Personally before me comes Dulcina
Brown of said County, who, after being duly sworn, on oath says, what she is
the widow of D. F. Brown to whom in the County of Banks State of Georgia she
was married on the 31st of March 1866 [She was actually married in Macon
County, N. C.] and she remained his wife, and resided with him to the date of
his death in January, 1916, and that she has not since his death
remarried. At the time of his death he
was a resident of Banks County in said State of Georgia, and he was on the
Indigent Pension Roll of the State and paid a pension of $60.00 in Banks County
for 1916 per annum, on account of being a soldier in Company I 39 N. C.
Regiment.
At the death of D. F. Brown he was
in the use and possession of the following property...None...of the cash value
of $ None.
What property of any kind and of
any value have you in your own use, control and possession now, and the cash
value, (State fully.)

Affidavit of Witnesses to Prove
Marriage and to Whom–Date of Death of Husband.

Personally before me comes Homer
Posey and Elisha Stevens known to be responsible and truthful persons, residing
in said County, who after being duly sworn on oath, say: that of their own
personal knowledge Mrs. Dulcina Brown who made the foregoing affidavit, is the
lawful widow of D. F. Brown who died in Banks County in said State of Georgia
on 7th January 1916 and that she has not since remarried. That she became the wife of D. F. Brown on
the 31st day of March 1866 and that she and he had resided together
as man and wife continuously since the 31st day of March 1866 and
that the D. F. Brown was the same man who was on the pension roll of said State
Ga. from Banks County when he died.

In RE: Expenses of last illness
and Funeral of Mrs. Delena Brown:
It
appears from this application that this pensioner died in the State of South
Carolina. As you are aware these
expenses cannot be paid in any case where the pensioner has resided outside the
State of Georgia for more that twelve months immediately preceding his [sic]
death. It will be necessary, therefore,
for each claimant to submit proof to you, in the form of affidavit, or
otherwise, that the pensioner had not been outside of the State of Georgia as
long as twelve months preceding his death.

that I am a son of Mrs. Dolena Brown, and that she also made her home with me
in Jackson County, in about five miles of Maysville, GA, and that Mrs. Brown
was only visiting one of her daughters in South Carolina at the time of her
death, Mrs. Brown had only been in S. C. For about three months, at the time of
her death.
