Widows’ Pension Paid To Mrs. Margaret Caudell of Banks County.

Affidavit to be Made by the Widow.

 

State of Georgia,

County of Banks.

In person came before me, the undersigned Ordinary in and for said County of Banks Mrs. Margret Caudell, who being sworn according to law, says under oath that she is the widow of B. F. Caudell, who was a soldier in the service of the Confederate States, and served as a member of Company D, of the 43rd Regiment of Ga. Volunteers; that he enlisted in said service on or about the 20th day of February 1863, and was in the Western Army up to June 1863.  That while in the Army, he was on the [blank] day of May 1863,

“He was taken sick while in Camp at Vicksburg, Miss., and sent to Hospital at Vicksburg, Miss., and died there while in the siege, sometime in June 1863.”

Deponent further states that she was the wife of said deceased soldier during his term of service in the Army, and that she has never married since his death; that she became his wife on the 16th day of April 1844, and that she has resided in Georgia continuously since the 23rd day of April 1824; that Georgia is her home, and was such on the 23rd day of December, 1890, and since said date she has not lived in any other State or locality.  Deponent, as the widow of said deceased soldier husband, applies for the pension provided by Act of the General Assembly of Georgia, approved December 23rd, 1890, for the pension year ending February 15th, 1892, and herewith tenders her proof of her right to receive the allowance granted by said Act.

Power of Attorney.

 

State of Georgia,

Banks County.

Know all Men by these Presents, That I, Margret Caudell of Banks County, in said State, do hereby appoint T. F. Hill of Homer, Ga. my true and lawful attorney in fact, for me and in my name, to receive and receipt for whatever amount I may be entitled to from the State of Georgia as a widow of a Confederate Soldier, as stated in the foregoing affidavit; hereby authorizing my said attorney to receipt in my name for any Warrant that may be issued by the Governor, or for any sum of money which may be coming to me for the reason aforesaid.
