WIDOW’S AFFIDAVIT
County of Banks who says on oath she is the widow of
McKinney A. Morris to whom, in the County of Habersham, State of Georgia, she
was married on the 3rd day of May, 1857, that she remained his wife
up to the 11th day of March 1896, at which time he died and that she
has not since married. At the time of his death he was a resident of Banks
County in said State of Georgia and was on the invalid pension roll of the
State of Georgia, having been allowed a pension of $100.00 per annum on account
of (here state the grounds of his disability)
Was suffering from hernia of the right side. The result of
an abscess arising from diseases contracted while in the army. There was a very
large hernial protrusion, nearly the size of the bottom of a dinner plate on
the right side in the flank or front of the loin and above edge of hip bone. He
was also a subject of heart disease and totally disabled for several years before
his death. Before his death for several weeks he had kind of tumor swelled up
in his abdomen= very sore and tender. He also began to expectorate bloody
matter. His feet and legs swelled very much and he suffered a great deal from
shortness of breath and difficult breathing. He gradually sank and died from
affect of said disease.
Deponent futher says that she is now a resident of Banks
County and has continuously resided in the State of Georgia since the 11th
day of September 1842. She applies for the pension provided by Act of the
General Assembly, approved December 16, 1895.
