Carlon-Caudell Marriage, May 10, 1923

Homer, Ga., May 10-

A wedding of interest to a wide circle of friends was that of Miss Ossie Mae Carlan, eldest daughtr of Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Carlan, of Banks county, and Joseph J. Caudell, a prominent farmer, also of Banks county, which took place at noon Sunday, May 6, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Gillespie, at Homer.

The ceremony was performed by the Rev. G. A. Bartlett of Prentis, N. C., in the presence of a few friends and relatives. Roses and plants were the chief decorations used.

The bride was lovely in her wedding gown of midnight blue crepe Romaine, with hat and cape and accessories to match.

The groom is well and favorably known. Immediately after the ceremony, they left for Atlanta, where they will spend a few days before returning home to the beautiful country home of the groom, where they will reside.

MARRIAGE OF MR. W.F. MORRIS, JR. AND MISS MARY PARKS OF MAYSVILLE
Banks County Journal, 1905


The contracting parties came into town quietly Sunday morning and procured a license, and immediately left town in search of a minister.

They drove over to Gillsville where they were joined in the holy bonds of wedlock by Rev. Chas. T. Brown.

Mrs. Morris is the second daughter of Mr. Thom. F. Parks, was reared in the county near Gillsville, but has resided in Maysville the past three years. She is a young woman of many rare and lovable traits.

Mr. Morris is known far and wide as the invincible, irresistable, irrepressible and only Stig Morris, than whom a bigger hearted , more wholesome man never lived. This is his native county and he was reared in this town. He has been dealing in the livestock for years, and is known throughout the south and west among the leading dealers. This business has proven very successful-________his prominence as a businessman.

He has scores of friends everywhere who extend congratulations.

Notes:

William Franklin Morris Jr. , son of William Franklin Morris (1832-1864) and Averilla Waters (1842-1908), was born 17 Nov. 1861 and died 7 May, 1952 in Banks County at age 90. He is buried in Sunrise Cemetery, Maysville GA.

Mary Parks Morris was born 25 Nov 1882 and died 27 January 1978 age 95. She is buried in Sunrise Cemetery, Maysville GA.

NASH-GILLESPIE Marriage 1914

The Constitution, Atlanta, Ga., Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1914

Homer, Ga., December 21-

The marriage of Miss Willie Jo Nash and Mr. Charles W. Gillespie took place on the evening of December 18, in the study of S. L. Hagan, pastor of the Methodist church, who officiated. Only a few close friends witnessed the ceremony. They left early Saturday morning for the bride' s home in Norwood, Ga. On their return they will be at home to their many friends at Mrs. N. E. Mason' s, in Homer. The bride is a beautiful and accomplished young lady, who was a teacher in the high school here last term, and Mr. Gillespie is one of the well-known young businessmen of Homer, being clerk of the Superior Court of Banks county.
