Kenneth Nations, 60, of Commerce died Saturday at Banks-Jackson-Commerce Medical Center.
A native of Banks County, he was the son of the late Lillie Mae Nations and Waco Nations. He worked for Harmony Grove Mills.
Survivors include his son, Kenneth Mike Nations, Copperas Cove, Texas; daughters, Sandra Nations and Nancy Widner, both of Copperas Cove, Texas; brothers, James Nations, Charles Nations, Bobby Nations and Ray Nations, all of Commerce; sisters, Jeanette Balenger, Canon, and Evelyn Nicholson, Commerce; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from noon until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2006, at Little-Ward Funeral Home. The Rev. David Strickland will officiate. Burial will be in Grey Hill Cemetery.

NEWSOME, GEORGE ALAN
Mr. George Alan Newsome, 78, of Banks County, passed away December 7,
1952.
He was born January 18, 1873, in Cabarus County, North Carolina. A son
of the late Jack and Mary Etta Simmons Newsome. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Betty Broome; son Floyd L.
Newsome; half brother, Curtis Worth Simmons.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Betty Broome Newsome; daughters,
Martha Chester Blackburn, Toccoa, Rose Ella Broome, Banks County, Alice
Mae Lewallen, Toccoa, Addie Caudell, Homer; sons, Albert Edwin, Baldwin,
George Emory, Toccoa, Kermit Ulice, Luther Garland Newsome, Banks County;
half sisters, Nancy E.V. Seaman, Lerah Maude Pearce, North Carolina; half
brother, William H.A. Simmons, North Carolina, John Clayborn Simmons,
Banks County, many grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Union Hill Baptist Church on December
9, 1952 with Masonic Honors. Interment was in the Union Hill Baptist
Church Cemetery in Banks County, Georgia. McGahee funeral home was in
charge of arrangements.
Mr. George Emory Newsome, 67, of Marietta, passed away October 10, 1974.
He was born in Banks County on May 8, 1907, a son of the late George Alan
and Martha Betty Broome Newsome.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Betty
Broome, Martha Chester Blackburn, Alice Mae Lewallen; brothers, Floyd,
Kermit and Albert Edwin Newsome. He is survived by daughters, Virginia
Karolyi, Acworth, Betty Jean Reynolds, Frances Phillips, Marietta, Eva
Brown, Denmark, SC; son, Noah Eugene Newsome, Doraville; sisters, Rose
Ella Broome, Toccoa, Addie Caudell, Homer; brother, Luther Newsome,
Flowery Branch; 12 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Mr. Newsome was a Shriner, a member of the Hollingsworth Blue Lodge,
Eastern Star of Powder Springs and Scottish Rite Temple of Atlanta. He
was buried with Masonic honors. Services were held Sunday, October 13,
1974, at the Union Hill Baptist Church in Banks County. Interment was in
the Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Thomas MaGahee Funeral Home was
in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Noah Eugene Newsome 66, of Doraville, GA, passed away March 22, 2000.
He was born in Banks County on August 25, 1935, the son of the late
George Emory Newsome and Ruth Naomi Lewallen Newsome Kaiser. He served
in the US Army and was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister
Frances Phillips.
He is survived by his wife Mildred Taylor Newsome; daughter, Elizabeth
Diane Shockley; sons, Dale Emory, Michael Colby and Noah Allen, all of
Doraville; sisters, Virginia Karolyi, Acworth, Betty Jean Reynolds,
Marietta and Eva Brown, Snellville, GA; 7 grandchildren; nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were held at R.T. Patterson Funeral Home on March 25,
2000, at 2:00 PM. Funeral was conducted By Rev. John Purington.

Jessie Rylee Norris, 92, formerly of Banks County, died Friday at Embracing Hospice.
She was born in Banks County to the late Leo M. Chambers Rylee and Sam W. Rylee. She was a retired seamstress. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Norris.
Survivors include her son, Harmo Leo Owenby, Tucker; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at Grove Level Baptist Church. The Rev. Mark Sargent will officiate. Burial will be in Grove Level Baptist Church Cemetery.

NORTON, REV. HARRISON
The Rev. Harrison A. Norton, 79, 306 Davis Ave., Toccoa, passed away
Saturday, March 8, 1986.
Born in Banks County on December 16, 1908, the Rev. Harrison was a son of
the late Jerry Harrison and Sarah Ward Norton. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by son, Noah Lumpkin Norton.
The Rev. Norton lived in Chicago for several years, but lived the greater
part of his life in Toccoa. He was a minister for 53 years and served as
state moderator for the Fire Baptized Holiness Church for the past two
years. He was a member of the Fire Baptized Holiness Church in Toccoa and
evangelized in churches throughout the United States as well as several
foreign countries.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Etta Lewallen Norton; four daughters,
Cora Yearwood, Louise McCurry, Debra Allen, Toccoa, and Carol Scott,
Burbank, CA.; two sons, Jerry Norton, Toccoa and the Rev. Tom Norton,
Greer SC.; sister, Nancy Hicks, Toccoa; 21 grandchildren and 13
great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Acree-Davis Funeral Home today from
noon until 1pm and 3 until 5pm, and 7 until 9pm. The family is at the
residence.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Congregational Holiness
Church with Revs. Almon Yearwood and Wallace Pittman officiating. Burial
will be in Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery, Toccoa, GA.
Mrs. Mary Etta Lewallen 87, 306 Davis Ave., Toccoa, passed away October
22, 1997.
She was born in Banks County, on July 24, 1910, a daughter of the late
Noah Lumpkin and Ruthie Sheridan Lewallen. In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband
Harrison Andy Norton; sons, Noah Lumpkin, Thomas Doyle, Jerry Harrison;
sisters, Alma Arrowood, Ruth Kaiser; brother, Johnie Lewallen;
stepmother, Lillie Woods Lewallen.
Mrs. Norton was a member of the Congregations Holiness Church in Toccoa.
She is survived by daughters, Cora Lee Yearwood, Louise McCurry, Toccoa,
Deborah Schabyo, Clarksville and Noah Carol Scott, Los Angeles, CA.
Funeral Services were held October 24, 1997 at the Congregational
Holiness Church with Rev. Robert Magness and Rev. Gettys Allen
officiating.
Interment was in the Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery, Toccoa, GA. Acre
Davis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Edna Lucille Hix Nunn, age 78, of Shankle Road, Commerce, formerly of Young at Heart Personal Care Home, Carnesville, died May 1, 2005, at Banks-Jackson-Commerce Medical Center. Mrs. Nunn was born July 20, 1926, in Banks County to the late John F. and Ruby Bulluck Hix. She was the wife of the late Raymond Nunn. She was retired from Commerce Sportswear and a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2005, at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Stowe and the Rev. Keith Savage officiating. Interment will be in Grey Hill Cemetery.
Survivors are her daughter, Shirley Nunn, Commerce; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Todd and Becky Lord, Commerce; two great-granddaughters, Ashley and Kristin Lord, Commerce; special friend, Tabitha Brookshire, Commerce; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lewis and Becky Hix, Winterville, and Frank and Betty Hix, Winder; brothers-in-law, W.T.
