Ernest Yarber, 88, of Cornelia died Tuesday at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born in Banks County to the late Pernell and Selma Hill Yarber, he was a member and deacon of Carmi Baptist Church. He was retired from Chicopee Manufacturing and formerly was employed with Quality Foods as a customer service representative. He also was preceded in death by his daughters, Reba Martin and Jeanette Martin; two brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Lewallen Yarber, Cornelia; daughters, Ora I. Maney, Smyrna, Chris Walker, Cornelia, Sarah Cross, Baldwin, and Sharon Watkins, Alto; son, the Rev. Phillip Yarber, Mount Airy; sister, Kathryn Hix, Alto; brother, Robert Yarber, Tampa, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at Carmi Baptist Church. The Rev. Phillip Yarber, the Rev. Billy Burrell and the Rev. Gene Todd will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
