Payne:
Also known as Payne City was a mill village in Bibb County. It was founded in the late 1800s and named for William Sims Payne who established it, owning a mill there. Bibb Manufacturing bought the cotton mill in 19-5 and built homes and an employee community center. Freedom Park, now on Roff Ave was the original site of the recreational center. It was an independent area surrounded by Macon but was dissolved and incorporated into Macon in the 2010s.

Avondale:
Avondale was a community, a part of the fertile agricultural area of Georgia with dark soil called the "black belt". Cotton plantations thrived there early on, and relied on enslaved labor. There is an Avondale Burial Place which is a place of historic significance. Before the white settlers came it was settled by the Native Americans.
