David Hickox, born February 6, 1861, was the son of Jonathan and Lucinda Jones Hickox, and grandson of David Hickox (1798-1887, the progenitor of the Hickox family in southeast Georgia. David married Sina "Sinie" Thrift, daughter of Robert Thomas "Bob" Thrift, on April 26, 1883, when she was 18 years old. Sinie was born on May 14, 1866, on Cow House Island in the Okefenoke Swamp.
Dave and Sinie lived a while on Cow House Island, and some time after 1901 moved to their last home northwest of Hoboken on the Satilla River (Timber Landing), near the home of their oldest son, William Harley. Today the location is known as "Blueberry Hill", a restaurant run by a Thrift Relative. Their home was initially in Pierce County, an area realigned to Brantley County. They were devout Primitve Baptist and attended the High Bluff Church where they joined on September 7, 1899. Dave Hickox died on May 31, 1943, and Sinie on July 31, 1951, seven years later. They are both buried in the High Bluff Cemetery, side by side. Fourteen children were born to this marriage:
