Allen Jackson Highsmith, son of Owen K. Highsmith and Mrs. Selena Counts Harrell, was born August 8, 1878, and died May 3, 1953. Jack, as he was known, was married on September 19, 1900 (then Wayne County) to Christa Ida Harris, daughter of Joseph Eben Harris and Julia Ann Wainright. Christa Ida was born on February 29, 1884, and died January 6, 1939. Both Jack and Christa Ida were buried at Smyrna Cemetery, near Lulaton, Georgia. Their children are identified below:
1. Thelma Highsmith, born September 30, 1902, and died December 3, 1982. Thelma is buried at the New Hope Cemetery, near Hickox, Georgia. She married (1st) Charlie Burie Dowling on February 15, 1920. Charlie was born on March 25, 1899, and died in an automobile accident on November 2, 1936. He was buried at the New Hope Cemetery, near Hickox. On August 23, 1953, Thelma married (2) William Newton Blount of Folkston, Ga. William Newton Blount was born February 9, 1898, and died June 9, 1980. He is buried at Palmetto Cemetery.
2. Seaborn Brantley Highsmith, born September 1, 1904 and died September 24, 1967. On September 22, 1935, he married Lizzie Kizer, daughter of Will L. Kizer. Lizzie was born on June 25, 1914. born about 1914. Both are buried at the Smyrna Cemetery near Lulaton, Ga. Seaborn and Lizzie had two children; Aubrey Purvis, and Carl Benny. Aubrey married Jane Katherine Jackson. Carl married Anita Pennell King.
3. Elroy Highsmith, born May 10, 1906, and died May 27, 1977, and is buried at Smyrna Cemetery near Lulaton, Georgia. Elroy never married.
4. Effie Highsmith, born about 1908, and married Roger P. Bennett in Brantley County, Georgia, on October 24, 1937. Effie and Roger resided near Calahan, Florida, prior to her death in 1990s.
5. Conaway Highsmith, born circa 1910, and married Georgia Belle Highsmith on August 12, 1934.
6. Corbett Highsmith, born circa. 1912, and married Pauline Highsmith. (Can anyone help on this family? 7. Stencie Highsmith, born circa 1918, and married Dorothy Strickland, born circa 1921, daughter of Jesse Levi Strickland and Annie Mae Roberson. Stencie died June 30, 1998; and Dorothy on September 11, 1995. Both are buried in Smyrna Church Cemetery.
