BASHLOR FAMILY HISTORY

My earliest records of the Bashlors in Bryan Co., Ga. begins with a Charles Bashlor.
His father may have been John Bashlor, or it may be that John Bashlor was brother to Charles.
At this time we are not sure. What we do know is there was a John Bashlor just across the
Ogeechee River into Chatham Co., Ga. in the very early 1800's. Also, there was a John Bashlor
who had a land grant in Liberty Co., Ga. for 250 acres dated 6/7/1774, bounded by James Butler.

On the 1830 census of Bryan Co., Ga. we find Charles, age 50-60 years. There is no female shown
with him of the age that would be a wife. Perhaps his wife is deceased by now. This would have had
to happen between 1825 and 1830 since the youngest child is under 5 years. There is also is a son that
does not show up on any other census report. and his age is 10-15 in 1830. There are three girls whom
we do not have names for. One is age 5-10, and two are age 15-20. A child shows up on the 1840 census
born 1832, so we can assume that Charles has remarried between 1830 and 1832. His second wife was about
15-17 when they married according to the 1840 census.
