additional proof that I am a direct descendant of Israel
Robeson BIRD and his wife Ann STAFFORD BIRD. Israel is the
brother of Sylvanus BIRD who lived in Bryan Co.. Israel BIRD

members who lived in Upper Bryan Co. were Sylvanus BIRD

Am looking for information on the CARTER family that may
have lived in the Bryan County area. The names sought are:
My grandfather was Robert Franklin (Frank) Carter (b.
02-27-1879, d. 03-20-1933) and he married Lula Elizabeth
Wells, both supposedly from Bryan, Liberty, or Chatham
County, GA. Robert Franklin (Frank) Carter supposedly lived
near Kings Ferry south of Savannah. His father's name was
supposedly also Robert & his mother's name was
Elizabeth. Robert Frank Carter also had brothers and sisters
named: Ishmael, Carrie, Mamie, Mallie, Rozella, Levi,
Daniel, Josephine, & Edward. The father of Lula
Elizabeth Wells Carter was Columbus Wells (no DOB DOD) and
her mother was Mary Ann Groover (1850-1892, also some
spelling is Gruber), both were supposedly from Liberty
County or Bryan County, GA also. They were married on
11-29-1877, and had children Lula Elizabeth, Beulah, Janie,
& Leila. Sister says they may have lived near Gum Branch
community near Hinesville. Lula Wells Carter supposedly had
2 children prior to her marriage to Robert Frank Carter
(unknown if thru marriage). Had a girl named Mabel
(deceased) & a boy named Julian also deceased. Mabel
mothered children who reside in Savannah.
also: In the Monday, March 6, 1933 edition of the Savannah
Morning News, Ishmael CARTER (son of Robert CARTER and
Josephine LIGHTSEY) is reported sot and killed at King's
Ferry on the Ogeechee River. His nephew, Isaiah CARTER, was
bound over in the Bryan County jail, pleading self-defense.
Ishmael CARTER was survived by brothers Robert Franklin
CARTER, Maney CARTER, and Levi J. CARTER of Savannah and E.
J. CARTER of Ways Station, Ga. Also four sisters Mrs. H. L.
Conway, Mrs. S. J. Dickerson, Mrs. J. M. Farr, and Mrs. J.
H. Allen, all of Savannah.
Seek date and place of marriage for Margaret A. GAY and
Stanley Howard ROGERS. His parents lived in Atlanta, GA, but

He was born April 11, 1904. They both attended the Georgia
Academy for the Blind when it was located in Atlanta, GA.
and married by 1939.
