I, Elizabeth C. Dennis being weak in body but sound in mind and wishing to dispose of my worldly affairs in the following way: (to wit)
1st I desire my body be buried in a decent Christian like manner.
Item 1- All my just debts be paid by my executor.
Item 2- I give my four sisters
Martha Norris, Julia M. Price, Mary Bledsoe & Harriett Harkness and my Nephew John J.D. BERRY, three Negroes and my stock.
Of the three Negroes, one each to go into Possession of my sisters Martha, Julia & Mary and remain there until a division on fair and equitable terms.
Item 3- I give until my sister Mary BLEDSOE my trunk and all my wearing apparel, including my gold ring, saddle & bridle.
Item 4- I give to my sister Harriett Harkness my carpet.
Item 5- I desire my executor to make up to my three other sisters the value of the carpet, to make them equal with sister Hariett.
Item 6 - I give to my Nephew John J.D. Berry $100 to make him equal with my four sisters.
Item 7- I give to my two nieces and nephew Mary Ann M. Bledsoe Mahogany bed and furniture, to Martha E. Price next bed and furniture, to John J. D. Berry a pine bed and furniture.
Item 8- I give my Beloved Brother John V. Berry and my dear old Father all the demands against brother John to be equally divided.
Item 9 - I give Thomas J. Townsend that tract of land I live on, also 200 acres land
joining John Greer, and two Negroes named Rachael and Clark provided Thomas J. pays Dennis L. Townsend $500. If Thomas J. refuses to pay $500 to Dennis L. then Negroes got to Dennis L. Townsend.
Item 10 - I give to John Dennis the son of Isaac Dennis my gold watch and chain.
Item 11- I give to William Armstrong, John Armstrong, James Armstrong, and also Sarah and Nancy, sisters of the above Armstrong, who is married and I do not know their husbands names and their Heirs, Negroes Sarah, Eli and Leroy.
Item 12 - I give to John Greer, Cagey and notes I have on John Greer and David Greer with the understanding that Greer is to see to the support of my old Negro woman Cagey during her life time.
Item 13- I give Nancy L. Greer my loom and everything pertaining to it. I charge John Greer as sole executor and in the event of failure of Greer, I charge Britton Butrill with execution.

I certify that the foregoing Will was wrote in the day and signed by testator in presence of the witnesses and admitted to be dated at the time of signing. 26th Day of April 1843, Wednesday. I also certify that I wrote the Will and am one of the witnesses. A. L. Robinson.

The Last Will & Testament of Elizabeth C. Dennis was exhibited for probate.
Ordered to be recorded and letters testamentary are issued to John Greer the Executor.
Ordered warrant of appraisement issued to Lewis Moore, James W. Harkness, John S. Irby,
Asa Butrill and William G. McMichael.
