Young Col Westmoreland injured in a Terrible Accident

In Union district, Saturday afternoon a terrible accident occurred by which a young man is maimed for life.

Young Col. Westmoreland went out hunting yesterday morning and about 3 o´clock started on his return home.  As he was climbing a fence, his foot slipped, and in trying to catch himself, the bammer of the gun struck the fence, and was discharged, literally tearing his arm from his body.  He was carried to the house, where the wound was carefully dressed. And every possible attention given him.  While the wound is not fatal, it is extremely painful, and will keep him in bed for some time to come.  He is the son of John C. Westmoreland, who is well known to all our readers.  Young Westmoreland was between 16 and 17 years of age – Griffin Sun.
