The Burglar Caught
On Monday of last week Dick Fincher, a young white man of this county was arrested as suspect in the burglaries mentioned in last week´s Argus. He confessed to having some of the stolen goods but said he got them from one Charles Williams, (colored,) who broke into the houses and stole them. An attempt was made to arrest the Negro but he made good his escape and is yet at large.
After Fincher was incarcerated in the county jail he played off crazy to such perfection that when he was carried before justice Sawyer he was dismissed, it is said, for want of prosecution. Fincher, however, told where some of the stolen goods were and carried the officers to where they were deposited and pointed them out. We trust that the guilty ones will yet be brought to justice and meet then just deserts.
