BADLY SHOT NEGRO

Ira Taylor is lying in jail in a badly wounded condition.  On Friday Mr. Frank Greer, acting bailiff, was put in the possession of a warrant for the arrest of Taylor for stealing.  He summoned a posse and went to Taylor's house and found him eating breakfast.  He demanded the negro's surrender but instead he grabbed a gun showed fight equal to a western desperado, and Mr. Greer had to shoot him down before he was conquered.  He was shot through the body and through the face and is now lying in jail suffering from his wounds.
