A DASTARDLY OUTRAGE

On Thursday last a Negro by the name of Lee Lawrence went into the cotton field on the Waldrup place, in Jasper County, near Mechanicsville, and committed an outrage upon Mrs. Sallie Pope, a respectable white lady about 45 years of age.  The Negro is bout 5 feet, 5 inches high and has a scar on the left eye.  If you happen to come up on him anywhere, and feel like putting a load of buckshot under his vest, we will go our part in it.  The laws of this state are a little slow in dealing with criminals of this stripe, and there should be some change made whereby they can be caught and hung on the same day which crime is committed.
