William R. Mitchell - Preamble and Resolutions
Of Gladesville Lodge No. 52 F. & A. M., October 3, 3895: Whereas it has pleased the Great Architect of the Universe to call from us our esteemed and highly appreciated friend and brother, William R. Mitchell, whom to know was to love , and whereas while we deeply sympathize with the grief stricken mother, sisters and brothers in their sad bereavement, that we sincerely hope that what is their loss is his eternal gain and we drop the sympathetic tear over his grave and cherish his memory dear.
Therefore be it resolved, We hereby offer our heartfelt condolence to the family relation for the dear brother and that a copy of these resolutions be furnished them by our secretary and that they also be spread upon our minutes, and a blank page be left in our minute book and marked -Sacred to his Memory.-
Resolved, that our secretary be requested to make application to the grand secretary for a Masonic diploma for the use of the family.
Resolved, that our lodge room be draped in mourning for the space of sixty days and that each member wear the usual badge of mourning for a period of thirty days.
