Mrs. Abbott Dies After Long Illness
Mrs. Ruby Medlock Abbott, 67, of Rt. 1, Jackson, died Wednesday afternoon, December 18th, in Newton County Hospital in Covington following an extended illness.
Mrs. Abbott was born November 22nd, 1907, in DeKalb County, the daughter of the late Mr. Jim Medlock and Mrs. Delia Shaw Medlock Harper, who survives.
Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon, December 20th, at 2:00 from the Philadelphia Baptist Church in the Klondike Community of DeKalb County. Rev. R. W. Jenkins, pastor of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Butts County, officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery with Sherrell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Medlock is survived by her husband, Charlie Abbott, of Jackson, a son, James L. Abbott of the Panama Canal Zone; her mother, Mrs. Delia Harper of Lithonia; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Hutchinson of Deland, Fla.; a brother, Waymon Medlock of Live Oak, Fla.
