Father of Rufus Adams Buried In Forsyth Friday
Mr. Benjamin Floyd Adams, 82, of Forsyth, died in the Monroe County Hospital Wednesday, August 14, following an extended illness. He was the father of Rufus Adams of Jackson, prominent businessman and civic leader.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Chapel of Andrew A. Dillon Funeral Home in Forsyth. Elder P. O. Revels Sr. officiated with interment in the Forsyth City Cemetery.
Mr. Adams was a native of Dallas, Texas and had lived in Monroe County for 55 years. He was the oldest living member of the Sharon Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Arthur C. Glasgon San Diego, Calif., Mrs. W. F. Vassar, Tampa, Fla.; four sons, J. B. Adams, Forsyth; Ernest Adams, Macon; Rufus Adams, Jackson; Paul Adams, Alexandria, Va.; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
