Death Claimed Aged Lady Tuesday Last
Mrs. Mandy Aiken, one of the oldest and most prominent residents of the county, passed away at her home a few miles from Jackson Tuesday afternoon, death following a protracted period of ill health. Old age and general debility were given as the cause of death.
Mrs. Aiken's maiden name was Miss Mandy Thaxton, and she was a member of a well known family of the county. She was a member of the Liberty church and was held in general high esteem by a large number of friends.
The surviving relatives are a son, Mr. Jim Aiken, one daughter, Mrs. M. E. Washington; a brother, Mr. W. W. Thaxton, of Atlanta; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Bethel, Mrs. C. R. Carter, of Jackson, and Mrs. Ransom Jester, of Atlanta.
Funeral services were held at Towaliga church Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. W. O. Sharp officiating and interment was in the church cemetery.
