Long Illness Sunday Claims Mrs. Aiken
Mrs. Annie Clyde Smith Aiken, 90 of Jenkinsburg, widow of James David Aiken, died Sunday night January 24, at 11 o'clock at Sylvan Grove Hospital shortly after being brought to the. Hospital. She had been in declining health for a long period of time.
Mrs Aiken is a native of Monroe County, the daughter of the late Richard Smith and Mrs. Ella Garr Smith. She had lived m Butts County for 70 years where she was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at. 3 o'clock from the Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. T. J. Thaxton and the Rev. C. G. Johnson officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery with Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ella Mitchell of Jackson and Mrs. Charlie Sims of Locust Grove; one son, Horace R. Aiken of Jenkinsburg; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; one brother, W. M. Smith of Forsyth; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Max Perdue, James W. Barnes, Gary L. Cox, Fred Hammond, Wade Hammond, J. D. Pope.
