Nannie Lizzie (Dollie) McKibben Akin

Mrs. L. R. Akin Passes in College Park Home.
Mrs. Dollie McKibben Akin, 42 years of age, passed away at her home in College Park Thursday night, April 19, after a long illness. News of her death was received with sincere regret by her host of friends in Jackson and Butts county. She suffered from a complication of diseases and her condition for the past several weeks had been the cause of concern to the family and friends.
Mrs. Akin was born and reared in Jackson and attended the Jackson public schools from which she was graduated. She joined the First Baptist church when a girl and had long been a faithful and devoted member, manifesting a keen interest in religious affairs. Mrs. Akin possessed many admirable traits of character and was widely beloved. Following her marriage, a few years ago, she made her home in Macon for some time, later moving to College Park where she resided at the time of her death. She was connected with a prominent and well known Butts county family.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. L. R. Akin, manager of the Birmingham branch of the white Provision Company; a daughter, Miss Dorothy Akin, a son, James Akin; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. McKibben, of Jackson; two brothers, Mr. L. P. McKibben, of Jackson, and Mr. T. N. McKibben, of Macon; three sisters, Mrs. S. P. Nichols, of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. L. H. Hurt, of Jackson, and Mrs. T. J. Whatley, Jr., of Dothan, Ala.
Funeral services were held at the College Park Baptist church in which she held membership, Saturday morning, with her pastor, Rev. L. E. Rogers, officiating, Many pretty floral offerings including handsome designs from organizations, relatives and friends, attested to the love in which she was held.
The body was brought to Jackson and interred in the family lot in the Jackson city cemetery. The services at the graveside were conducted by Rev. L. E. Rogers and Rev, Augustus Ernest. The Pallbearers were Messrs. L. H. Hurt, L. P. McKibben, T. N. McKibben, R, C. Akin, J. D. Akin, W. T. Akin, H, B. Muckenfuss and Mr. Matthews.
