Dr. George Thomas Allen

Dr. George Thomas "Tommy" Allen, 70, of High Falls in Monroe County died Thurs., Feb. 18 at the South Fulton Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Sat., Feb. 20, in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home in Jackson with Rev. John Waller officiating. Interment was in the High Falls Baptist Church Cemetery. An Atlanta native, Dr. Allen was the son of the late Marion Edward and Katie Lee Allen. He was a graduate of Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine and operated a veterinary hospital in Atlanta for several years prior to his establishment of the Morrow-Southlake Animal Hospital which he owned and operated before his retirement.
He was a former Morrow city councilman and police commissioner and was a member of High Falls Baptist Church. He was a supporter of Atlanta law enforcement and was instrumental in the establishment of their Canine Corps. He was an avid railroad enthusiast and had an extensive collection.
Survivors include wife Peggy Middleton Alien of High Falls.
Haisten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
