J. A. Allen Buried At Sardis Rites
Mr. J. A. (Jim) Allen, 88, of Covington, died October 17th in the Newton County Hospital.
Mr. Allen was born and reared in Butts county but had lived in Covington for the past seven years. He was the son of Mr. William Thomas Allen and Mrs. Amanda Smith Allen. Mr. Allen was a member often Sardis Baptist Church in Henry County and was a member of the Royal Arch Masons.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, October 18th at three o'clock from Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. R. Hudson Moody officiating. Interment was in the churchyard.
Mr Allen is survived by his wife; four sons, E W. (Tode) Allen and Melvin Allen, both of Covington; Ralph Allen and Troy Allen of Jackson; four daughters, Mrs. Ethel Kitchens, Mrs. Mamie Bowden, Mrs. Nell Bryant all of Covington; Mrs. Madge Jeffears, McDonough; one brother, Will Allen of McDonough; two sisters, Mrs. Ausie A. Lunsford; Porterdale; Mrs. Hester Hewin, Atlanta; 30 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Melvin Allen Jr., Howard Allen, Charles Allen, Larry Allen, Nelson Allen and Neal Allen.
