Mrs. Allen Was Buried Friday At Monticello
Mrs. R. E. Allen Sr., 85, of Monticello, mother of Mrs. J. W. O'Neal Sr. of Jackson, died on Thanksgiving morning about 3:30 o'clock at Sylvan Grove Hospital following a lengthy illness.
The former Miss Minnie Dennis, she was born in Putnam County, the daughter of Mr. Earley Dennis and Mrs. Georgia Folds Dennis. She was a member of the Monticello Methodist Church and was a widely known and beloved resident of Monticello.
Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon, November 26th, at three o'clock from the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home in Monticello. Rev. Horace Couch, pastor of the Monticello Methodist Church, and Rev. Ray Dunahoo, pastor of the Jackson Methodist Church, officiated. Interment was in West View Cemetery in Monticello.
Mrs. Allen is survived by one daughter, Mrs. J. W. O'Neal Sr. of Jackson; two sons, R. E. Allen Jr. and Arnold S. Allen, both of Monticello; two sisters, Mrs. J. K. Waldrup, Griffin, Mrs. Charles Cook of Macon; three brothers, J. C. Dennis of Macon, W. I. Dennis and Rowe Dennis, both of Valdosta; five grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were James W. O'Neal Jr., Denny O'Neal, Clyde Allen, Oscar Leverette, George Huckeba, and Woodie C. Dennis.
