Ralph Allen Victim Of Heart Attack
Mr. Ralph Woodrow Allen, 52, of Route 1, Jackson, was dead on arrival at Sylvan Grove Hospital at six o'clock Thursday evening, August 26th, as the result of an apparent heart attack suffered at his home. Mr. Allen was reportedly mowing his lawn when he suffered the attack and was found in the yard of his home.
Mr. Allen was the son of the late Mr. James A. Allen of Henry County and Mrs. Effie Mitchell Allen, of Butts County and was born January 23, 1919 in Henry County. He was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church and was a carpenter.
Funeral services were held at three o'clock Saturday afternoon from the Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. Wendell Banks officiating. Interment was in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery with Haisten Funeral Horne in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cecil Mae Barnes Allen of Jackson; three daughters, Mrs. Sandra Sullivan and Mrs. Jackie Thomason, both of Covington, Miss Evelyn Allen of Miami, Florida; five sons, Stanley Allen, Tommy Allen and Larry Allen, all of Jackson, Richard Allen of Covington and Reginall Allen, U. S. Navy, stationed in Maryland; four sisters, Mrs. Madge Jeffries of McDonough, Mrs. Mamie Bowden of Covington, Mrs. Ethel Kitchens and Mrs. Nell Bryant, also of Covington; two brothers, Troy Allen of Jackson and Ernest Allen of Covington; seven grandchildren. Nephews served as pallbearers.
