Butts Negro Was Killed Friday in Truck Accident
Robert Allen, 32, a Negro pulpwood employee from Butts county, was fatally injured late Friday afternoon near College Park when the truck in which he was riding left the road and crashed into a grove of pine trees, inflicting critical injuries to which he succumbed while enroute to Grady Hospital.
Allen, a resident of Box Factory Hill, was an employee of Russell Crumbley. He was well known here among members of his race and had a reputation as a steady and dependable worker.
The accident occurred when the driver of the truck lost control while attempting to close the door on his side which had become open. Allen was crushed between a sizeable pine tree and the truck, suffering fractures of both legs, both arms, and a crushed skull.
