Robert E. Allen Died Monday at Monticello Home

Graveside services for Mr. Robert E. Allen, 77, father of Mrs. J. W. O'Neal of Jackson, and well known locally, were held Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock at the Westview Cemetery in Monticello. Mr. Allen, a retired rural mail carrier, died at his residence at 12:30 p. m. Monday after an extended illness. Rev. Burch Fannin and Rev. Lamar Watkins officiated.
A lifelong resident of Monticello, he retired from his mail route in 1951. He was a member of the Methodist Church and a Mason.
He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Minnie Dennis, two sons, Robert E. Allen Jr. and A. S. Allen, both of Monticello; a daughter Mrs. J. W. O'Neal Sr., Jackson; two brothers, A. A. Allen of Monticello, and J. C. Allen of Atlanta; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
