Mr. W. Carlton Allen Dies Early Wednesday
The death of Mr. William Carlton Allen, 46 years of age, well known business man of Jackson, occurred at his home on Indian Springs highway at 2:05 Wednesday morning. Though not well for some time, Mr. Allen recently developed pneumonia and this was the immediate cause of death.
Mr. Allen was born and reared in Butts county, a son of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Allen, esteemed resident of the community. He was a grandson of the late Mr. B. F. Watkins, one of Butts county's leading farmers and business men. Mr. Allen was well known and was esteemed by a wide circle of friends. He was a Mason and formerly a member of the Jackson Rifles.
Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, the former Miss Ina Ridgeway; two daughters, Mrs. A. M. Davis and Mrs. V. E. Hay; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Allen; two sisters, Mrs. E. A Allen, of Plant City, Fla. and Mrs. Clyde Wright, of Brook Haven, Ga.; also a grand-daughter, Marie Davis.
Funeral services were to be held at the Jackson Methodist church Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Augustus Ernest, of Forsyth, officiating. St. John lodge of Masons will have charge of the service at the grave. Interment will be in the Jackson Cemetery.
