Rev. Anderson, Former Pastor, Heart Surgery Monday
Rev. James F. Anderson, C.SS.R., a former priest of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Jackson, died December 10th in Opalocka, Florida, after a short. illness. Born in Brooklyn, New York on March 2, 1932, Father Anderson was ordained June 21, 1964.
While in Jackson he served as president of the Butts County Ministerial Association and was active in religious and cultural affairs of the community. He was particularly active in organizing a local chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous. Father Anderson came to Jackson in February 1966 and stayed until January 1969. He founded the St. James Church in McDonough.
Father Anderson had been in the hospital for nine days before his death which was attributed to pancreatitis. Services were held at Opalocka with his body being shipped to Brooklyn for funeral services and interment on Monday, December 15th.
Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church in Jackson Friday night, December 19th at 7:30 p. m. to which all his friends in Jackson and surrounding areas are invited to participate.
Father Anderson is survived by five brothers and sisters and his mother.
