Mrs. Sally Ophelia Smith Andrews

Mrs. Sally Ophelia Smith Andrews, 100, of Atlanta, a former resident of the Iron Springs community, died Wednesday afternoon (July 9) at Piedmont Hospital.
Mrs. Andrews was born in Butts County July 25, 1885, daughter of the late Stephen Jackson Smith and Mary Jane Hale Smith, pioneer residents of Butts County. She was the widow of O. A. Andrews and was a seamstress and homemaker. Survivors include two sisters, Ethel Smith of Atlanta and Annie Mae Lane of Dunwoody; nieces, Janice Traylor of Marietta, Almeda Bishop of College Park, Catherine Smith of Atlanta, and Mary Sue Crittenden of Dunwoody; and a nephew, Jack Smith of Monticello.
Other local survivors include Ruth Presley of Jackson and Johnsie and Laverne Smith, both of Monticello.
The funeral was held Thursday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home in Jackson with the Rev. J. C. Parham officiating. Burial was in the Stark United Methodist Church cemetery.
Haisten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
