Grover Cleveland Arline, Sr.
Grover Cleveland Arline Sr., 63, of 403 N. Oak St., Jackson, died Nov. 22 at Sylvan Grove Hospital.
The funeral was held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Zion Baptist Church with Dr. B. J. Saucer officiating. Burial was in the Jackson cemetery. Mr. Arline was born in Laurens County, son of Willie and Vera Arline. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church, which he served as deacon, choir member, Sunday school teacher, and as church treasurer for 37 years. He was named Zion's "Man of the Year" in June of this year.
Mr. Arline served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion, Post 102. He served on the Downtown Development Authority and was chairman of the Jackson Zoning and Planning Board. He was a member of the American Correctional Officers Association. An avid golfer, he won several tournaments throughout Georgia.
Survivors include his wife, Odessa Arline; daughter, Shayla Arline of Jackson; sons, Geoffrey Arline of Jackson, Michael Arline of Freemont, Calif., Steve and Grover Arline Jr., both of Atlanta, and Terrecco Arline of Medford, N.J.;stepmother, Irene Arline of Florida; 10 grandchildren; four daughters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; six sisters-inlaw; several nephews and nieces.
Trimier - Jackson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
