Robert F. Armstrong

Robert F. (Bob) Armstrong, general manager of the Central Georgia Electric Membership Corporation for 40 years, died Thursday afternoon in Statesboro where he had resided near his son since his recent illness.
Prior to moving to Statesboro, he had lived at 313 Woodland Way in Jackson.
Mr. Armstrong has lived in Jackson since 1939 when he came to EMC as line foreman. He previously was employed by various electrical contractors and power companies with experience in practically phases of electrical business. He was appointed general manager of the co-op in September 1941 and retired in December 1981.
An active member of the community, Mr. Armstrong was a charter member and past president of the Jackson Exchange Club. He was manager of the Butts County Fair for l5 years, president of the Butts County Chamber of Commerce for two terms, and a former member of member of the Sylvan Grove Hospital Authority.
Mr. Armstrong was a member of the Jackson United Methodist Church, and he held membership in St. John's Lodge No. 45 of Free and [rest is missing -DER]
