Heart Attack Claims Life Of Tom Ashley
Tom Ashley, prominent Valdostan and husband of the former Miss Elizabeth Currie of Jackson died of a heart attack at his home Thursday, April 8, while mowing the lawn. His body was discovered in the yard by a young neighbor who summoned assistance, but he was pronounced dead on the scene.
Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at a Valdosta funeral home with interment in his native city. Mr. Ashley was a member of the Presbyterian Church and was prominent in the business, religious and social affairs of Valdosta for a long number of years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Currie Ashley, of Valdosta; one daughter, Miss Cornelia Ashley of Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Walter Lane of Jacksonville, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.
