Mrs. Lorene Surry Askin

Mrs. Lorene Surry Askin, 63, of Route 3 in Jackson died May 25 at Henry General Hospital in Stockbridge.
Funeral services were Sunday, May 31, at Shiloh Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Sherman officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Askin was born in Butts County, daughter of the late John and Ida Surry.
A member of Shiloh Baptist Church, she was a member of the mothers board, usher board, pastor aid. Lodge #9, and the Gospel Explosion prayer band. She received a 50 year certificate of membership from her church.
Survivors include her daughter, Maggie Pittman of Flovilla; sons, Pheanious Askin Jr. and John Askin, both of Jenkinsburg, Bobby Askin, Ricky Askin, and Waymon Askin, all of Jackson; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, three daughters-in-law; sisters, Lucy Barber of Atlanta and Virgil Surry of Decatur; three brothers-in-law, 10 sisters-in-law, three aunts, and several nieces and nephews.
Trimier Funeral Home in Jackson was in charge of arrangements.
