Mrs. J. M. Awtry Died in Griffin Of Brief Illness
Funeral services for Mrs. Susan Pendley Awtry, 80, were conducted Sunday afternoon, December 10, at 4 o'clock at Haisten's Chapel in Griffin with the Rev. G. L. Howard and Rev. Marcus Drake officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Awtry was the wife of Mr. John Marion Awtry of 118 West Chappell Street. She had been a resident of Griffin since 1916. She died at Griffin-Spalding County Hospital after an illness of three weeks. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, John Marion Awtry; one daughter, Miss Marian Aimee Awtry of Griffin; three sons, John L. Awtry , of Jackson; Harold Awtry of Senoia and Herschell V. Awtry of Griffin; two brothers, Jasper Pendley of Pomona and Ben Pendley of' McDonough; two sisters, Mrs. Cliff Brown of Locust Grove and Mrs. Kitty Paine of Macon; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
