Harvey Graham
Son HangedWe learn that a little son of Mr. Harvey Graham was found hanging by the neck dead about dusk, Saturday evening last, near the residence of his father, over on Broad river, in this county. We gather the following particulars from Mr. L. J. McElhannon, who was in that vicinity on Sunday last. The little boy's father had sent him to bring some sheaf roots from a field near the house. In bringing the oaks he used a plow line. He brought one turn to the house or barn and then went back to the bars, the usual place of entering the field, and, it is supposed that he had let down all the bars except the top one when he brought the first turn of oats. He was found dead by the members of the family with one end of the rope in a loop around his neck and the other tied to the top most bar. It is supposed that he was playing on top of the bar and fell off. The fall stunned him, and at the same time tightened the rope around his neck so that he could not recover his breath and death ensued.
