Rites Thursday For Joe Ingram
Funeral services for Joseph Emerson Brown Ingram, 72, residing on Jackson route 1, who died in his sleep Monday night, November 24, were held at the chapel of Haisten Brothers Thursday at 3 p. m. Rev. Gaither Briggs, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated. The pallbearers were John O'Neal, Paul Hayes, Ben Hayes; Walter Collins, Bob Moore and Jimmy O'Neal.
Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery in Griffin with Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Ingram, who was a farmer and machinist, had spent most of his life in Butts county. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Ingram. For a period of about 25 years Mr. Ingram was employed by the firm of Nutt & Bond as a ginner. He was skilled as a mechanic. The day before his death was spent at work on his farm on the Fincherville Road.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mary Graddy Ingram; one daughter, Captain Lemma Ingram, US Army Nurses Corps, stationed in the Far East; four sons, George and Jack Ingram of Jackson; Quinton Ingram of Miami, Fla. and Charles Ingram of Atlanta; one sister, Mrs. Cleo AlIen of Griffin.
