Heart Attack Monday Claims Zebulon Editor
Albert William Quattlebaum, 63, editor of the Pike County Journal in Zebulon for the past five years, died Monday in Statesboro from a heart attack suffered while enroute to Savannah.
Mr. Quattlebaum had been a resident of Zebulon since 1933 and from 1933 to 1956 he was manager of the Zebulon Ginning and Fertilizer Company.
Noted for pithy and witty comments he was quoted numerous times in many publications.
He was a member of the Zebulon Baptist Church and had been active in civic activities for many years. He had been in ill health for the past several months.
Funeral services were held at the Zebulon Baptist Church Wednesday morning. Burial was in East View Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Inez Smith; mother, Mrs. A. W. Quattelbaum Sr. of Savannah; brothers, Dr. Julian K. Quattlebaum of Savannah; John H. Quattlebaum, Charlotte, N. C.; Robin B. Quattlebaum of Roanoke, Ala.; and a sister-in-law, Miss Onnie Smith, Zebulon.
