John Edward Upshaw
John Edward Upshaw, 85, of Jackson died Saturday, July 15, at Sylvan Grove Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 18, in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Grimes officiating. Interment was in Jackson City Cemetery.
Mr. Upshaw was employed by Motor Convoy (now Allied Systems) and was a Georgia State Trooper and member of the Georgia Sheriffs Association. He was instrumental in founding Allied Family Credit Union and was a life member.
Mr. Upshaw was a member of the Alpharetta Masonic Lodge and the Yaarab Temple of Shrine in Atlanta. He was the widower of Mary Juel Tolbert Upshaw.
Survivors include daughter, Virginia Barnett of Cumming; step children, Billy Wortham of Jonesboro and Ann Duffy of Hapeville; sister, Lillian Wheeler of Roswell; brothers, Charles Upshaw of Dillard and Marty Upshaw of Pensacola, FL; granddaughter Debbie Ingram of Jackson; and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Haisten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
