Mrs. Vaughan Died Monday at Daughter's Home
Funeral services for Mrs. John Butler Vaughan, 84, who died early Monday morning after an extended illness at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. M. Smith at Cork, were held Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock at the graveside in Oconee Cemetery in Athens. The Rev. L. H. Britt, former pastor of the Flovilla Baptist Church, officiated with Haisten Funeral Home of Jackson in charge of arrangement.
Mrs. Vaughan, the former Miss Eulalia Newbourne, was born in Elbert County, daughter of the late Martin Newbourne and Mrs. Margaret Moss Newbourne. For several years Mrs. Vaughan had made her home at Cork with her daughter, Mrs. Smith, Mr. Smith and family. She had also lived in Athens for a good many years and was a member of the Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. R. M. Smith of Flovilla, Mrs. Eulalia Vaughan Barron, West Point, Conn.; four sisters, Mrs. L. C. Brown, Washington, D. C.; Mrs. B. F. Ray, Anderson, S. C.; Mrs. C. E. Jones, West Palm Beach, Fla.; Mrs. Flora Satterffeld, Orlando, Fla.; five grandchildren.
