Edward Berry Vaughn

A Boy Hangs Himself.
Just after the Argus had been printed last week news reached here that a little twelve-year-old son of Mr. H. M. Vaughn who lives two miles north of town had hanged himself. It seems that this boy with two other smaller brothers were chopping cotton near the house when their mother went out and finding that they had not done enough work gave them a few licks each. Berry, the older one, became incensed at being whipped and left the field. After a short while the mother went to look for him and found him hanging by the neck from the buggy shelter dead. She gave the alarm and he was taken down, but he could not be restored to life. This is the youngest child that ever committed suicide in this section.
