Funeral Rites Held at Old Bethel for Elder Vaughn
Impressive rites for Elder Homer M. Vaughn, widely known minister and leading citizen, whose death occurred at his home in Parkland on November 17, were held at Old Bethel church Thursday afternoon. The pastor, Elder Mr. Stephens, of Atlanta, assisted Elder Mr. Barron, of Liberty Hill, and Elder A. C. Elliott, of McDonough, conducted the service. The pallbearers were H. O. Ball, W. M. Bond, J. C. Kimbell, Howard Perdue, Paul Lemon and D. W. Ham. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Before his health failed Mr. Vaughn served as pastor at Old Bethel and was a widely known minister of the Primitive Baptist denomination.

Elder H. M. Vaughn Rites At Old Bethel
Funeral services for Elder Homer Vaughn, 57years of age, prominent Jackson resident and well known as the pastor of several Primitive Baptist churches in this section, who died at his home in Parkland at 12:30 Wednesday, will be held. at Old Bethel. church Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
The death of Mr. Vaughn came as a shock to his friends. In feeble health for the past several months, he shot himself while alone in his room the discharge from a shotgun entering the body just above his heart. Death resulted in a short time.
Mr. H. M. Vaughn and Mrs. Nancy King Vaughn, residents of the old Bethel community. A farmer and carpenter by trade, Mr. Vaughn was ordained as a minister of the Primitive Baptist church several years ago. He was interested in the work of that church, and filled several pulpits in this section, including Old Bethel. Several years ago Mr. Vaughn moved to Jackson for residence and had made his home in Parkland. He .was regarded as a man of high character and enjoyed the confidence of a large Circle of friends.
He is survived: by his wife, the former Miss Bradley Plymale, of FloviIla; three daughters, Misses Julia, Nora and Lucile Vaughn; two sons, Homer Vaughn, Jr: and Walter Elliott Vaughn; six brothers, J. O., T. W. and B. B. Vaughn, of Jackson;. T.M. Vaughn, of Fitzgerald; H. D. Vaughn, of Carlile and George Vaughn, of Griffin; two sisters, Mrs. A. G. Brown and Mrs. L. N. Maddox, of Jackson.
