Ira Vaughn Died Monday After Long Illness
Ira Lee Vaughn, 63, died at his on Bailey Street in Jackson early Monday morning following a lengthy illness. A life long resident of Butts county he was a construction worker ill health forced his retirement several years ago.
Funeral services were held from the Worthville Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, with the Rev. T. J. Thaxton and the Rev. M . F. Holt Jr. officiating. Interment was in the Macedonia Cemetery under the direction of Haisten Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Homer Barnes, Harold Vaughn, Bobby Vaughn, Roy Ratliff, Benjamin Vaughn and James Vaughn.
Survivors include his wife Mrs. Bessie Mae Smith Vaughn; four daughters, Mrs. A. L. Grant and Mrs. J.D. Carver, both of Griffin; Mrs. Gerald Hamlin and Miss Annie Ruth Vaughn, both of Jackson; three sons, Lindsey Vaughn of Covington; Watson Vaughn and W. L. Vaughn, both of Jackson; three sisters, Mrs. Nora Brooks of Jackson; Mrs. F. L. Rape of McDonough and Mrs. H. H. Ratliff of Griffin; three brothers, Jim Vaughn of Miami, Fla.; Luther Vaughn of Maryville, Tenn., and Ed Vaughn of Jackson; 10 grandchildren.
